‘Be
Better’

The JCI awards system is
a highly competitive process done through a fully-integrated online
system where e-bids, or electronic documentation of projects and programs
and involvement of individual members, are evaluated by 25 pre-selected
competetent members who serve as jurors nationwide.

This e-Award system found
the ongoing Work-Trepreneurship Project that JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel has
started to pilot in Barangay Kamputhaw in Cebu City to be the Best Business
Development Program for helping workers and jobless folks through a
process that will lead them towards self-reliance that may just begin as
grassroots economical ventures.

For "The Next Step -
Furthering Ourselves to Be Better" that outlined how the chapter molded its
members this year, the judges thought the organization had the Best Individual
Development Program, as well as the Best Membership Recruitment Program for its
"Discovery Series" and "Coffee Conversations."

The series of bowling
fellowships among members and with those from other JCI chapters dubbed
as "Do You have What It Takes?" led the group to gain the Best Sports
Development Program.

"For a young chapter,
that is a very good accomplishment," remarked JCI Sen. Gino C. Gonzalez, their
adviser who was a distinguished JCI awardee as Best Member in 1996 and Best
President in 2001 during whose term in JCI Cebu raked in awards both in the area
and national levels.

JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel
members undertook the award-winning projects and programs under the 2007 theme
"H.A.R.N.E.S.S. to Be Better." H.A.R.N.E.S.S. means Happy Advancement through
Responsive Networking of Entrepreneur-leaders with Sharpened
Synergy.

In its charter year last
year, JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel was adjudged as the 2006 Best New Chapter of the
Year and earned merits for outstanding programs for community
development, membership recruitment and joint work with other JCI chapters,
plus recognitions for outstanding president (Eviota), current member
(Parcon) and new member (Lim).
